Yes – This is Montenegro
Hi there,
First of all this post is dedicated to all our followers and regular visitors, but especially to Karen Causi and Michael Binns. Some of recent comments on our Facebook page (Visit-Montenegro.com Facebook page) inspire us to write one special post about Montenegro. Something different, something unusual, something from another angle.
First of all we want to clear some facts:
- We are private company,
- We do not represent any of official Montenegro Tourism Organizations,
- We are not Travel Agency,
- We do not represent Hotels or any other kind of accommodation capacities in Montenegro,
- We do not have any kind of commercial or other interest to highlight anyone or anything,
- We do have several websites about Montenegro, but this is not our business,
- We are lucky that we have owners who just love Montenegro, and they invest lot of their money in its promotion.
All this and other facts give us great freedom to be TOTALLY INDEPENDENT in our job. And our job is to present real picture about Montenegro, best we can. Why we do that? Because we believe that Montenegro deserve to be widely presented, and we know that many people around the world know little about Montenegro. Also, after 15 years of experience in marketing field, we believe that we know how to do that. And of course, if Travel and Leisure or Lonely Planet put Montenegro in TOP WORLD destination … what we can say?
But, if you put on the scales all plus and all minuses of Montenegro, result will be amazing. You will get HUGE amount of great, wonderful and positive elements. This is not some empty story – just search Internet, and you will find million of tourist who visit Montenegro – and NO ONE will not say: THIS IS UGLY, BORING, DISGUSTING COUNTRY. No, you can not find that, because Montenegro is amazing, wonderful place, with so much beauties and so friendly people, that no one can be indifferent.
Yes, maybe you will wait couple of hours on borders, if you come in summer season. But we also wait on many other borders. It is regular occurrence, because we have huge number of tourists in July and August, but we really do not understand why tourists do not come when it is actually the most beautiful in Montenegro: April and May or September and October. During the summer season you must expect that there will be crowds.
Yes, many will have objections to a lot of garbage where it is not the place. And we have same objections. We are furious when we see how some people treat nature. And we are furious because some institution in Montenegro do not work properly. You have everywhere in the world rude and uncultured people, but you have institutions who take care about that. But, we must say that last couple of years, situation is better … but not perfect. Montenegro is ECOLOGICAL country and we can not allow to have any piece of bad spots. We must be good example to all other communities.
Yes, we have communism in Montenegro before 25 years. And let we share with you something: former Yugoslavia have great system, human system, facing the common man, with lots of social justice, feelings of real values and so on. Do not forget that Yugoslavia was so far from East communism block (Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, …). Yugoslavia was one of the leading countries in the world. Do not forget to find our articles about famous people who coming in 1950s and 1960s Montenegro in ’60, especially in Sveti Stefan (Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Kirk Douglas …). Yes – almost every famous person in the world come on holiday in Yugoslavia. That kind of communism we have here. But what happened in 1990′s all collapsed.
Yes, there was a war around Montenegro. War between some former republic, lot of bad things, … But, DO NOT NEVER EVER FORGET THIS: Montenegro has never been involved in war in the Balkans, but on the contrary, Montenegro was a country in which receive with open arms all refugees: Muslims and Croats, Albanians and Serbs … all fleeing from the insane war and terrible crimes. At one point in Montenegro was more refugees than the Montenegrins. This is something unprecedented in the history of mankind. And YES some people still send us mails with question: “…is safe to come in Montenegro? …”. We understand that someone from NewYork or Sidney can not have all information – and can not make difference between Montenegro and other parts of former Yugoslavia. A that is what we try to present: real picture about Montenegro.
Yes, Montenegro as well as many other countries, has certain disadvantages. And that is for sure something what we do not want to hide. Just take a look on our main website: Visit-Montenegro.com, and you will find tone of information pointing to this problems.
Yes, many famous travelers, poets and painters “discovered” Montenegro and fell in love with it. Lord Byron wrote: “At the moment of the creation of our planet, the most beautiful merging of land and sea occurred at the Montenegrin seaside… When the pearls of nature were sworn, an abundance of them were strewn all over this area…” From the top of Lovcen, Bernard Shaw exclaimed: “Am I in Paradise or on the Moon?!”
Yes, the planet Earth is a beautiful place, but we do not often see. Same with Montenegro. We can not see all the beauties because we live here and we are not aware of all the great things around us. But tourist and travelers who come in Montenegro, forget all bad things when they visit some of amazing places, like: Sveti Stefan, Monastery Ostrog, National Park Skadarsko Lake, National Park Lovcen, National Park Biogradska Gora, National Park Durmitor, Tara river and canyon (by the way – do you know that many people have name TARA – inspired with this magic wonderful river?).
Yes, it is easy to find bad things in every single thing or place. But it is not so hard to be positive person, and to look on the bright side of life. And when you come to Montenegro, you can discover that bright side of life is all around you. You will discover big positive energy and lot of positive vibrations.
Yes, we have over 70.000 awesome nature photos of Montenegro, and over 500 hours of amazing videos of Montenegro … but in this post we do not want to put any. We do not want to put some of amazing photos of Montenegro, because we want to say with our words what we think and what we feel. And we know that you will see that we write this post from the hard.
Yes, we can write like this day by day … but we must finish this post. And we will finish with: WELCOME TO MONTENEGRO – BREATHTAKING BEAUTY !
THE END

GREAT WORK!
I hope you would keep on making posts like this.
Great piece! Negative news is easy to find. I worked and lived all over the world and I feel at home here in this beautiful country. 5 years ago Montenegro was on a good track. We have to get back on that track again. And we only come back on that track with positive news about Montenegro. A lot of people here in Montenegro (local and expatriates) should understand that everybody is a small part of the marketing machine for this beautiful country called Montenegro. So don’t f..ck it up! PLEASE. Keep Montenegro clean (in a lot of ways;-)) and show yourself as a good service minded host for the visitors to the country you live in (even if you are not from here!).
Keep up the good work and the positive attitude!
Hi there, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A GREAT COMMENT !

Also, we will work hard to make Montenegro MUCH BETTER destination, to prevent all bad things and to improve all good things. This kind of comments give us additional strength to keep going on. Best regards
